Background
Since Headteacher Andrew O’Neill took up his post in September 2016 the school has been radically transformed. Then girls’ school Sion-Manning, it was undersubscribed, buildings neglected and set to close. Andrew has overhauled the school, doubling the pupil numbers from a low of under 400 to now 820 (840 from September 2023) and securing this summer GCSE results in the top 5% nationally. He embarked on an ambitious refurbishment and expansion programme which has seen over the past 5 years improvements made to every single space in the school. In September 2018, a key part of the transformation saw the school become All Saints Catholic College, a co-educational 11-16 school, admitting boys into the school for the first time. Since the transition the school has gathered real momentum with improved academic success and more families applying to send their children to the school. This rising popularity has seen the school successfully move from 4 forms of entry to 5 and is currently underway with the plans to expand to 6 forms of entry where pupil numbers will reach circa 900. Our success has recently been recognised with an Ofsted grading of Outstanding in all 4 categories (November 2022) and Andrew winning National Secondary Headteacher of the Year as broadcast on BBC’s The One Show (November 2022).
